Fake exchange sign-up pages in search ads: how first-time users avoid them
Paid search ads sometimes lead to convincing copies of exchange registration pages. How first-time users can reach the genuine sign-up page of Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget and recognise a fake before typing anything.
Multiple exchanges | the reader's region | the reader's funding currency | fees, access and account safety
For a newcomer, the natural first step is to type the exchange name into a search engine and click the first result. Sometimes that first result is a paid ad placed by scammers, leading to a near perfect copy of the registration page. The fake site collects your email, password and verification codes, and may later show a fake balance to encourage deposits. Because you have never seen the genuine site, you have nothing to compare against. This guide gives new users a safe path to the real registration page on any of the large exchanges and a few checks that reveal fakes.
Start from the official app store
The safest starting point is the official app store on your phone. Search for the exchange by name, check the developer name and the number of downloads, and install the app. Registration inside the genuine app avoids the search ad problem entirely. If you prefer a computer, find the official address through the app or a source you trust, then type it yourself and bookmark it.
Skip sponsored results
If you do use a search engine, scroll past results labelled as sponsored or ad. Look at the full address shown under each result and compare it carefully with the official domain you confirmed. Lookalike domains often add words, swap letters or use unusual endings. When in doubt, close the browser and go back to the app store route.
Signs you are on a fake page
Warning signs include an address that differs from the bookmarked one, a page that asks for a seed phrase or private key during registration, unusual urgency such as countdown offers, or a support chat that opens immediately and asks for payment. Genuine exchanges never ask for a wallet recovery phrase to open an account. If you see any of these signs, leave at once.
If you already registered on a fake site
Assume the email and password you used are compromised. Change the password of your email account and of any other service where you used the same password. Do not deposit anything. Report the fake site through your browser's reporting tool. Then register on the genuine exchange through the official app with a new, unique password and enable two-step verification straight away.
Risk boundary: Safe Crypto Signup
Digital assets are volatile and derivatives can amplify losses. This website has no login, wallet connection, deposit form or customer-support chat. A referral link only records attribution; it does not guarantee access, pricing, rewards, approval or investment results. Availability can differ by residence, legal entity and product, so no regional access is assumed from language or branding alone.
Scenario checkpoint
- Install the exchange app from the official store and register inside the app itself.
- Scroll past sponsored search results and compare the full address with the official domain.
- Leave immediately if a registration page asks for a seed phrase or private key.
- Change reused passwords at once if you already registered on a fake site.
